A highly efficient enantioselective dicarbofunctionalization reaction of (E)-alkenyloxindoles with pyridinium salts was realized. The process includes the chiral N,N'-dioxide-Sc(iii) complex-catalyzed regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselective [3+2] cycloaddition reaction and the following photo-promoted aza-Norrish II type rearrangement. A series of 2-pyridyl substituted oxindole derivatives were obtained in good yields with moderate to good diastereo- and enantioselectivities.Evolution of surface and bulk palladium oxides in supported palladium nanoparticles was followed in situ using X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The surface oxide was found to be easily reducible in hydrogen at room temperature, while removal of bulk oxide required heating in hydrogen above 100 °C. We also found that the co-presence of hydrogen and oxygen favours a stronger oxidation of palladium particles compared to pure oxygen.Acridine-based 1,2-dioxetane as a thermochemiluminescence (TCL) probe for temperature sensing exhibited an excellent response for temperature in the range of 85-130 °C with favorable sensitivity and good resolution. The proposed TCL probe could be applied to screen thermal conductivity properties of different thermal insulation materials. The effect of an external longitudinal magnetic field on the optical free induction decay from a free radical is observed for the first time. The experiments were performed on a rotational transition of the hydroxyl radical, OH (2Π3/2(J = 1) ← 2Π3/2(J = 0) at 83.8 cm-1), using a terahertz free electron laser. In contrast to the results of the experiments with a stable paramagnetic molecule, NO, the observed effect of an external magnetic field on the free induction decay from hydroxyl radicals is more complicated. A longitudinal magnetic field leads to the rotation of the polarization plane of the FID radiation and to an additional modulation of the signal intensity. The angle of the rotation of the plane of polarization is large, in agreement with the theoretical predictions. The observed FID kinetics in the time domain are in semi-quantitative agreement with the modeling. This observation opens an opportunity for the selective detection of weak signals of short-lived reactive paramagnetic free radicals from overwhelming signals that originate from stable non-paramagnetic species by polarization discrimination.Stable cell-like multisomes encapsulating the chemical oscillator Belousov-Zhabotinsky were engineered and organized in a linear network of diffusively-coupled chemical oscillators by using microfluidics. The multi-compartmentalization and the spatial configuration resulted in a new global synchronization scenario. After an initial induction interval, all the oscillators started to pulsate in phase with a halved period with respect to the natural one.Thiele (Th) and tetrabenzo-Chichibabin (TBC) derivatives with terminal dibenzocycloheptatriene (DBHept) units were prepared. A clear correlation between their electronic and molecular structures was stablished. Insights into their closed- or open-shell ground states were gained, where particular contribution of the heptagonal carbocycles as end-groups was proved. Remarkably, a thermally accessible triplet diradical configuration was confirmed for the DBHept-TBC compound. An unexpected three-component reaction of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones, tert-butyl peroxybenzoate (TBPB), and hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) is described. Under CuBr-catalyzed and TBPB-oxidized conditions, a variety of hydroxyhexafluoroisobutylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones were formed. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/reacp53.html Furthermore, the first hexafluoroisopropoxylation of the quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with HFIP is also demonstrated with Cu2O as the catalyst and PhI(OAc)2 as the oxidant. These new transformations of HFIP furnish previously unknown and potentially useful fluorinated quinoxalin-2(1H)-one derivatives. The dimensionality-driven two-photon absorption (2PA) enhancement effect is investigated in a series of functionalized bipyridyl Ru-complexes. Our design strategy leads to very high 2PA responses up to ∼1500 GM. However, we highlight that the 2PA performance vs. dimensionality correlation reaches an unexpected limit stemming from 'anti-cooperative' interchromophoric couplings.A novel cascade signal amplification based on tyramide signal amplification (TSA) and surface-initiated enzymatic polymerization (SIEP) was first reported for the sensitive and template-free detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) exosomes. This assay exhibited 20.9-fold signal amplification with a low detection limit of 12.8 particles per μL. Furthermore, accurate and reproducible results were obtained for detecting exosomes in serum samples, suggesting its potential application in exosomes analysis and clinical diagnostics. In this study, a new type of carborane-based electron acceptor was prepared by the direct attachment of an ethynyl group to the carboranyl carbon atom. Analyses of photophysical and electrochemical and DFT calculations suggested that the direct attachment of the ethynl group significantly affects the electrochemical properties of these o-carborane systems.A heterostructured photoluminescence 'turn-off' film was developed using vertically oriented LYHEu nanosheets as a partial sacrificial layer for isolated YVO4Eu3+ nanophosphor layers and was used for the convenient detection and removal of Cu2+ ions with excellent sensitivity and recyclability.Homogeneous tetra-n-butylammonium phosphomolybdate (TBAPM) nanoparticles with an inter-connected structure were synthesized via a facile soft chemical route and firstly introduced into potassium ion batteries. The obtained novel TBAPM cathode delivers a high capacity of 232 mA h g-1 at 20 mA g-1 and shows slight decay during the subsequent cycle.Ternary polymer dispersed cholesteric liquid crystals (PD-CLCs) prepared by doping AIE-active binaphthyl-based molecules (R/S-AD, chiral dopant) and the achiral liquid crystal fluorescent polymer, poly(p-phenylene ethynylene) (LC-PPE, CPL emitter) into 5CB, can emit strong circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) with gem up to 0.97. This work develops a new strategy for designing strong CPL materials.
