This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back from the door. A shorter lever is an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be activated by the thumb turn on the inside. Lever Pad A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently from lever-type handles found on most doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a variety of finishes & variations. The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes like White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. The 211mm backplate fixation centres permit a larger handle, which is usually beneficial when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of door handles sagging out of the horizontal position when not in use. It is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement can also be called 'handle centre or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles. When you have the right PZ size, you'll be required to make sure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. Euro Cylinder Cylinder locks are usually used on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of door. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned with those in the lock body and permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins with external and internal doors typically needing different levels of security. The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this is contingent on how your doors and handle are utilized. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can increase security, such as anti-drill or anti bump properties. To make sure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. If you cannot measure using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. It is crucial to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks. The design of many modern cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. These features are designed to minimize the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This will help deflect the attack, and keep your door safe. There are also cylinders that have been made to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a faster and more convenient method of gaining access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could hinder insurance claims. Spring Cassette The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their resting position after usage. The handles had no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple component is the most effective way to fix this problem. It also helps prevent your door from getting stuck in either the open or closed position, as they are difficult to close manually. These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with sprung multipoint locks They will not work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will need to have a custom hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are fitted with an elongated square that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.
