French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review French-door refrigerators blend form and function. They feature stylish double doors that show the large fridge on top, and a freezer drawer beneath. These refrigerators stand out because of their distinctive features, including through-the-door dispensers as well as higher-end ice makers. We asked Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect, and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the right one. They considered storage capacity as well as layout, energy efficiency, and other factors. GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator Like its name implies, GE’s Profile series is targeted at those who wish to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchen. The refrigerator is brimming with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a clever water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This fridge is expensive and I expected more. Other than that, this fridge is a fantastic choice. It comes with a huge freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Additionally, it holds a fair amount of frozen food when as compared to similar models. Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment has 18.5 cubic feet, which is typical for a French-door refrigerator at this price. It also has a decent sized ice maker that is tucked away in the left-hand door, although it's not the biggest I've seen. You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make a custom storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting adds an attractive accent. The storage bins in the door have a third shelf which can be folded down to store tall items. The drawers come with temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, although I found their plastic textured coatings to be a little difficult on the fingers. The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. https://www.frydge.uk/categories/french-door-style-fridge-freezers is available on iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere in the globe. It also offers numerous options for customizing. It will also send you notifications when the door is unlocked and when the freezer or fridge must be defrosted and when the filter has to be changed. It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill which is an option that is available in a handful of other GE fridges that allow you to set the number of cups of water you'd like to pour out simultaneously. The fridge shows a countdown to display how much water remains, but it's not as useful as Precise fill. Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator Designed to look like a seamless piece of your kitchen, Bosch's French-door refrigerator is a standout. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also boasts a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer and dual compressors to ensure maximum food preservation. The Ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and makes the shape of a pyramid using only water. This fridge is the perfect option for households with a single member or kitchenettes who want a built-in look and top-of-the-line food preservation. This refrigerator was rated as the most efficient in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a tiny fraction - this is essential to avoid freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also performed well. It reached the initial temperature set within an hour, and remained at the temperature throughout our testing. Bosch has a reputation for premium appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. The app lets you monitor and control your fridge remotely from your smartphone or tablet. The fridge is expensive and has great features and capabilities at a reasonable cost. It is crucial to be aware of the limitations of the fridge. You might need to be inventive with tall items since the fridge has a small shelf space. The shelves aren't impervious to spills and could easily be stained or damaged by sharp items. It is easy to take out the trays in the fridge However, be sure to clean them regularly to prevent the growth of mold. If you're thinking of buying this refrigerator, be sure to read our review of the French Door GE Appliances Refrigerator and the Bosch Bottom Freezer Refrigerator. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator The LG LRFLC2706S is an excellent counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage in a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge is built with an ordinary French door layout, with two rows of spill-capture shelving and a set crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded to provide more space for taller items. There's also a full-width drawer to store deli items and an internal water dispenser. One of the best features of this refrigerator is that the ice maker is in the freezer, making it simple to move ice into the fridge to use as needed. The freezer also has thoughtful design features, like sliding drawers that allow you to organize your items. It has a large bin to store frozen food items, and a separate container for ice. Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a simple way to keep track of your refrigerator and manage it, especially when away from home. But while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it does not necessarily improve the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this refrigerator as compared to other fridges we tested. This is likely due to the larger capacity. The doors pose a problem with this fridge. They have sunken handles on the front, which allow shorter people to easily open them from the bottom, but they're still difficult for taller people to steer closed without slamming them. It would have been better to have front-mounted handles. The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a excellent option for those looking to combine the benefits of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. It has a capacity that is superior to counter-depth models, and it cools evenly. It's also a bit cheaper than the top counter depth refrigerator with an icemaker, which makes it a desirable option. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator If you're looking for an French door fridge that doesn't break the bank, this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a basic fridge that might not be as attractive like some of its competitors however it has enough features to make it a an excellent option. Its most notable characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer which helps keep food items such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water and ice maker dispenser. The "Chill Drawer", which is located over the two crisper bins, is a nice feature. The drawer allows you to divert some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can store foods that require extra attention. You can adjust this feature using the slider located on the outside of the drawer. You can also use this to set a general cooling setting for the entire fridge, but I've noticed that adjusting the general settings tends produce better results than specific ones. In my tests, I found that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across various parts of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator did not differ much from 38 degrees. This is a great performance however it doesn't make it into the top ten in our rankings. This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat in order to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge. The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from grey-bodied stainless that has a "smudge resistant" finish. It is capable of repelling fingerprints and streaks even when compared to the glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
