PURPOSE Numerous studies have reported the prognostic role of lncRNA-ATB high expression in solid tumours, but its prognostic effect is still uncertain. Therefore, the purpose of this meta-analysis was to further comprehensively verify the prognostic role of the lncRNA-ATB high expression in solid tumours. METHODS A literature search was performed using the electronic platforms to obtain relevant research studies published up to 31 May 2019. Confidence intervals of research endpoints in each study were extracted and merged. All data analysis was performed using Stata12.0 software. RESULTS A total of 2120 patients with solid cancers in 14 studies were enrolled in our meta-analysis eventually. The analysis results revealed that high expression of lncRNA-ATB was related to lower OS (HR1.46, P less then 0.001), shorter DFS(HR1.73, P less then 0.001), and earlier RFS (HR2.67, P less then 0.001). Besides, the high expression of lncRNA-ATB has a considerable risk of lymph node metastasis (OR2.13, P = 0.017)and perineural invasion (OR1.58, P = 0.018). CONCLUSIONS Meta-analysis showed that the high lncRNA-ATB expression was a poor prognostic marker in multiple cancer types. The high expression of lncRNA-ATB symbolizes the high risk of lymph node metastasis and perineural invasion in cancer patients. Ferrous sulfate is an oral iron supplement commonly used to treat iron deficiency anemia. Upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract mucosal damage with associated tissue iron accumulation can sometimes occur with therapeutic dosages of oral iron-containing medications. A distinct histologic pattern of iron deposition with associated inflammatory and reactive changes caused by mucosal injury from oral iron-containing medications has been most commonly described within gastric biopsies and has been referred to as "iron-pill gastritis". There have only been very rare reports of duodenal mucosa biopsies demonstrating predominantly extracellular crystalline iron deposits with surrounding tissue inflammation and injury analogous to the "iron-pill gastritis" pattern. Here we report a case of "iron pill-induced duodenitis", an uncommon histologic pattern of duodenal iron deposition and mucosal injury seen in a female in her 50 s with clinical findings of a duodenal mass. Breast cancer is one of the most important women-related malignancies, which is incurable (particularly in advanced stages) and tumor microenvironment is a number one accused part in the inefficiency of current anti-breast cancer therapeutic strategies. The tumor microenvironment is composed of various cellular and acellular components, which provide an optimum condition for freely expanding cancer cells in various cancer types, particularly breast cancer. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are one of the main cell types in the breast tumor region, which can promote various tumor-promoting processes such as expansion, angiogenesis, metastasis and drug resistance. CAFs directly (by cell-to-cell communication) and indirectly (through secreting soluble factors) can exert their tumorigenic functions. We try to elucidate the immunobiology of CAFs, their origin, function, and heterogeneity in association with their role in various cancer-promoting processes in breast cancer. Based on current knowledge, we believe that the origin of CAFs, their subsets, and their specific expressed biomarkers determine their pro- or anti-tumor functions. Therefore, targeting CAF without considering their specific functions may lead to a deleterious outcome. We propose to find and characterize each subtype of CAFs in association with its specific function in different stages of breast cancer to develop novel promising therapeutic approaches against the right CAF subtype. OBJECTIVE To measure sexually active life expectancy (SALE) estimating the average age at which sexually active life finishes, paying special attention to the older population. Variations in SALE according to self-rated health are examined. METHOD Descriptive analysis with cross-sectional data. SALE was calculated for the population by age group (30 to 80 years old) and sex using the Sullivan Method, with data from the Human Mortality Database and the National Survey of Sexual Health (Spain). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/kribb11.html The analysis distinguishes between individuals that have had coital sex in the last year and those who have not. RESULTS Coital activity continues in those aged from 55-59 years old, the SALE is 13.3 years in males and 8 in females. Coital activity is related to health and sexual health, diverging depending on sex and age group. The males showed a more extended sexually active trajectory than the females, but were also more influenced by good general health (adding 2.6 and 1 years respectively) and good sexual health (5.2 and 4.3 years). SALE also varies when poor health (subtracting 2.7 years and adding 2 years) and poor sexual health (subtracting 2.9 and 1.3 years) are considered. CONCLUSIONS the results reveal that sexual health programmes must be extended to the older ages, given that it is confirmed that sexual activity continues in old age. L.U.We determined the prevalence of genetically determined neuromuscular diseases in adult Norwegian patients from Hordaland County. We identified patients using International Classification of Disease codes registered in our hospital database and reviewed patient notes to ensure diagnostic accuracy. To ensure maximal ascertainment, we screened both inpatient and outpatient contacts from two 5-year periods 01.01.2005 to 31.12.2009 and 01.01.2008 to 01.01.2013, and used the second data set to define prevalence. Myotonic dystrophy was the commonest adult muscle disorder with a minimum prevalence of 11.84/100,000 followed by facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy at 6.42/100,000. Genetically confirmed limb-girdle muscular dystrophies had a prevalence of 4.2/100,000 with CAPN3 mutations being the commonest followed by mutations in ANO5 and FKRP. Becker muscular dystrophy was rare (0.4/100,000). For the purposes of comparison, we also ascertained adults with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and found a prevalence of 4.42/100,000.
