There were statistically significant changes between the pre-treatment and post-treatment time points for both the CPIB and VHI-10. Correlations between the CPIB and VHI were moderate-high. The CPIB item bank, General Short Form, and scoring parameters can be used with people with SD for valid and reliable measurement of the impact of communication disorders on communication in everyday life. The CPIB is sensitive to changes with intervention, proving useful for clinical and research purposes to assess the efficacy and effectiveness of interventions. At present, Dermatophagoides farinae is found to contain more than 30 groups of allergens. These allergens are used for allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) of allergic diseases. During the AIT process, immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies can block immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibody-induced allergic reactions in the human body. One of the mechanisms may be that IgG and IgE competitively bind to the same allergic protein, so it is necessary to explore the binding sites (epitopes) of IgG antibodies to allergens. In this study, peptide arrays were constructed to react with the serums from patients with allergic asthma to find the IgG epitopes of several allergens including major allergens (Der f 1, 2) and mid-tier allergens (Der f 4, 5, and 7), and then verified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test. Relevant epitopic sequences were located on the tertiary structure of individual allergens, as reconstructed by homology modeling. One IgG epitope of Der f 1 (90-106aa, NVPSELDLRSLRTVTPI), five IgG epitopes of Der f 4 (61-77aa, ERYQPVSYDIHTRSGDE; 193-209aa, FRSDASTHQWPDDLRSI; 226-242aa, HPFIYHETIYYGGNGIN; 271-287aa, LRWLRNFGTEWGLVPSG; 352-368aa, NDWVGPPTDQHGNILSV), and one IgG epitope of Der f 5 (84-101aa, RYNVEIALKSNEILERDL) were identified. IgG epitopes of Der f 2, 7 were not found. There are overlaps between the IgG and IgE epitopes of Der f 1, 4, and 5. These findings not only reflect the practicality of peptide array and ELISA test in the allergen IgG epitope identification, but also provide more information for further understanding of the human immunological changes during AIT and the molecular mechanisms of IgG blocking IgE activity. Low back pain (LBP) has a major impact on health workers, and its prevalence and risk factors among them in Saudi Arabia have been investigated previously. However, the results have never been comprehensively reviewed. Therefore, the aim of this study was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the available literature to identify the prevalence and risk factors of LBP among health workers in Saudi Arabia. MEDLINE/PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, and Saudi peer-reviewed journals were searched for relevant literature. After quality assessment of the eligible articles, 18 studies targeting seven occupational categories, with a total number of 5345 health workers, were analyzed. Pooled prevalence rates of 40.8% (n=7 studies), 65.0% (n=13 studies), and 81.4% (n=2 studies) were obtained for week, year, and career, respectively, across all professional groups. Nurses and physical therapists were more susceptible to LBP, in that order, than the other categories considering week and career periods. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Temsirolimus.html Age, body mass index, and female gender were the most commonly reported individual risk factors. Occupational risk factors mainly included work-related activities requiring back bending and twisting, lifting and pulling objects, and manual patient-handling. The results of this review indicate that LBP is highly prevalent among health workers in Saudi Arabia when compared with international rates. Proper prophylactic measures are necessary to reduce LBP and minimize its consequences. Further high-quality research is needed in different Saudi regions to achieve a broader understanding of LBP prevalence and causes. This study was designed to assess the oral alterations and oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) in patients undergoing chemotherapy for malignancies other than oral cancer. Oral alterations were studied by careful clinical examination prior to and at the end of three cycles of chemotherapy in 100 patients. OHRQoL was assessed by oral health impact profile (OHIP)-14 questionnaire. Fifty-four patients developed oral complications among which oral mucositis and pigmentation were the most commonly observed. OHRQoL was hampered in all patients as indicated by higher postchemotherapy scores as compared to prechemotherapy scores (P<.0001). Postchemotherapy scores were higher for patients who developed visible oral changes as compared to those who did not (P=.001). There was a weak positive correlation between the number of oral alterations and postchemotherapy scores for OHRQoL. Our study emphasizes the role of oral physicians in the healthcare team delivering chemotherapeutic treatment as regular oral examination, and timely symptomatic treatment is important for the overall well-being of the patient. PBSC collection using a blood cell separator in very low weight patients can be frequently complicated by severe adverse effects and technical difficulties. From March 2013 to January 2017, 14 PBSC collections were performed in 12 children weighing less than 10 kg, affected by different solid tumours. PBSC collection was performed with a "homemade" aseptically assembled circuit. The circuit is composed by a 150 mL collection bag connected with a 4 stopcock ramp, perfused with ACD. This circuit allows collection of a specific total blood amount from CVC, depending on CD34 /kg target. Mean CD34 cell performance per collection was 9.3 × 10 /kg. Tolerance to the procedure was very good as none of the patients experienced complications, with the exception of a patient who showed mild cyanosis and pallor after collection. Moreover, no bleeding or thrombotic complications have been observed. To date, 16 PBSC reinfusions have been performed in 7 children with a mean CD34 cells viability of 98.1% ± 2.7 and mean WBC viability of 57% ± 10.
