7% for grade I, 56.3% for grade II, and 75.0% for grade III. Internal (AUC 0.884) and external (AUC 0.918) cohort validation indicated that the score had good predictive power. The STAPLAg score can be determined early in infected EICU patients, and exhibited better prognostic capacity than the initial SOFA score on admission in both internal and external cohorts. STAPLAg constitutes a new resource for use in the clinical diagnosis of sepsis and can also predict mortality in infected EICU patients. Methods We will retrieve electronic databases from the respective dates to February 29, 2020 without language and publication status restrictions Cochrane Library, Web of Science, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. All potential randomized controlled trials (RCTs), which examined the effect of HQNI on anxiety and depression in patients with CHFM will be included. Two team members will separately perform article retrieval, duplicates excluding, scanning, data collection, and study quality assessment. In addition, this study will carry out data analysis by RevMan 5.3 software. Results This study will provide high-quality synthesis and/or descriptive analysis of the latest evidence to assess the effect of HQNI on anxiety and depression in patients with CHFM. Conclusion The findings of this study will exert evidence to judge whether or not HQNI is effective on anxiety and depression in patients with CHFM. Apart from allergy, ER is a repetitive motor stereotypy. Eye rubbing is frequently observed in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and in individuals who may be at risk for developing KC. We present a child with ASD who developed progressive KC following standard corneal cross-linking (CXL), most likely because of abnormal ER associated with allergy and repetitive behavior due to ASD symptoms. Patient concerns A 14-year-old boy was referred to our clinic because of asymmetric visual acuity reduction. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Rapamycin.html Diagnosis The child was diagnosed as having keratoconus. He had a strong ER habit. The child had been previously diagnosed as having ASD. Interventions Corneal cross-linking was performed in both the eyes. On account of keratoconus progression, most likely associated with persistent ER habit, he was retreated with CXL in the right eye. Behavioral modification intervention for ER habit reversal was also applied. Outcomes Corneal cross-linking in combination with behavioral modification intervention for ER habit reversal prevented further KC progression. Lessons Behavioral interventions are likely to provide positive results in an ER habit reversal in children with ASD. Keratoconus treatment with CXL combined with behavioral management for ER reversal seemed effective in halting keratoconus progression in a young patient with ASD.Rationale Left bronchial isomerism is generally associated with abnormal arrangement of the atrium and abdominal viscera; therefore, its diagnosis is confirmed in early childhood. Patient concerns Here we report a rare case involving a 36-year-old man with isolated left bronchial isomerism that presented as an asymptomatic severe obstructive ventilatory disturbance during pulmonary function tests performed as part of routine assessments for an orbital wall fracture. The patient was a current smoker and did not show any respiratory symptoms. Diagnosis Chest computed tomography revealed left bronchial isomerism, and further tests showed that there was no involvement of other organs. Interventions We recommended smoking cessation and the long-term use of an inhaled long-acting bronchodilator. Outcomes The findings from this case highlight the causative role of left bronchial isomerism in asymptomatic adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Lessons Physicians should consider this condition as a cause of obstructive ventilatory disturbances in asymptomatic adult patients. Background The aim of this study is to compare the postoperative quality of life (QoL) and survival outcomes in lower rectal cancer (LRC) patients who undergo either laparoscopic- intersphincteric resection or extralevator abdominoperineal excision (L-ELAPE) after long-course neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (nCRT). Methods This prospective, single-center, non-randomized, controlled, non-blinded, phase I/II clinical trial is designed to enroll 159 eligible LRC patients who achieved favorable response to long-course nCRT (2 × 25 Gy). After informed consent, the patients will be assigned into the laparoscopic intersphincteric resection group or L-ELAPE group according to their own will. Standard radical laparoscopic surgeries will be performed for every participant. Then every participant will be followed up for 3 years. The primary outcomes are scores of QoL questionnaire-core 30, QoL questionnaire-colorectum 29, Wexner incontinence score, International Prostate Symptom Score (for male), International Index of Erectile Function-5 (for male) and Female Sexual Function Index (for female). The secondary outcomes consist of incomplete circumferential resection margin rate, 3-year local recurrence, 3-year disease-free survival, 3-year overall survival and other surgical outcomes. Discussion This is the first prospective clinical controlled trial to assess postoperative QoL and efficacy for LRC patients after favorable long-course nCRT. The result is expected to provide new evidence for a more detailed individualized treatment guideline for LRC. Trial registration This trial was registered at Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR1800017512; ChiCTR.org) on August 2, 2018.Studies suggest that the use of alpha-blockers increases the risk of dementia in patients with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). Due to study limitations, the relationship between the use of alpha-blockers, such as tamsulosin, and the risk of dementia is still unclear. However, alpha1-adrenoreceptors are also present in the brain, so there is potential for adverse effects on cognitive function. Therefore, we investigated possible associations between the use of alpha-blockers and aggravation of cognitive decline in dementia patients using a clinical data analytic solution called the Smart Clinical Data Warehouse (CDW).We retrospectively investigated clinical data using the Smart CDW of Hallym University Medical Center from 2009 to 2019. We enrolled patients with probable Alzheimer disease (AD) who had completed the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) at least twice during follow-up, and who had BPH. We compared the difference in MMSE scores between patients who took tamsulosin for >1000 days and those who did not take any alpha-blocker.
